Duda Kvitsiani and Balazs Hangya got the DARE grant!
The project is entitled: “Electrophysiological recordings and manipulation of single neurons in behaving animals”.
Electrophysiological methods have the necessary temporal resolution to capture the microsecond timescale of neuronal firing; however, spatial information about the exact location of the recorded cells has been proven hard to extract from extracellular recordings. We are planning to develop a new method of current source localization by which we could reconstruct the position of single neurons. We will perform high density silicone probe recordings from behaving animals to test this new approach. We will train members of the Kvitsiani lab to perform similar experiments.
